While a light source falls off on a sine as it turns to the equator, the saturation of a counter hue increases to a constant ambient level in shade. The source counter hue, maximal at the equator, falls off. The counter hue is to emphasize the shadowing, contrasting the lit area and showing maximal textural variation.
